Contemporary dance welcomes 10-year-olds and older
Contemporary dance is a versatile art- and exercise form, which combines different dance styles and genres, -techniques, acrobatics — forming itself into a super interesting and powerful entity. Contemporary dance puts focus on creativity, expression and the ability to express feelings with dance.
Students learn about their bodies’ mobility, dance techniques and expression, along with spatial awareness. Improv is a vital part of contemporary dance classes.
Contemporary dance teaches students to utilize the grounding of movements (this includes using gravity and the floor) and perform movements together as a part of a fluent, continuing storytelling. Classes include choreography work.
Beginners, in “Nykytanssi 1” have a single 75-minute dance class each week, while more experienced dancers in “nykytanssi 2” onwards will have at least two lessons weekly.
Enrollment for new students is open. Spring semester begins on January 7th, 2025.
